Whilst some older people are culturally active, others express an intention to get more involved in creative and social activities which is not always matched by action, either for motivational, economic, physical or practical reasons with barriers increasing proportionally with age. This project will establish a web-based ‘silver membership’ service for the over 65s providing promotional offers at artsdepot and at local restaurants, such as complimentary drinks receptions, restaurant vouchers, and ticket discounts. The research will explore barriers to participation around pricing, art-form, transport and health, and likes and dislikes around different communication methods. The learning will be of interest to programmers and marketing teams across the arts sector and potentially more widely.
